On July 9, 2019, the MOBI-AGE project team surveyed the elderly in the Jardim de João Chagas (commonly known as Jardim da Cordoaria), in the city of Porto.
We had the opportunity to talk with three seniors who told us that they walk daily and they rarely or never use the public transport, because they don’t need it. The elderly mentioned the difficulties they face in the public space, especially associated with physical obstacles, the existence of steps, the poor condition of sidewalks, the cars parked on the sidewalk and the type of pavement (in some areas it is slippery).
The fact that these interviews were carried out in the public space allowed us to obtain answers that enrich the study.
